■ The Korea Trade Insurance Corporation (K-SURE) stated on June 13 that it had become the only institution in the world to have received two platinum awards simultaneously in the both fields of Environment, Society and Governance (ESG) and Sustainability at the LACP* 2020/2021 Vision Awards organized by the League of American Communications Professionals (LACP).

* League of American Communications Professionals

○ The LACP Vision Awards, established in 2001, is a globally authorized competition where the global communication institution assesses the sustainability reports of global corporations.

○ According to LACP, the competition of this year drew the largest number of submissions ever, showing the most fiercest competition in history with approximately a thousand corporations joining from 40 industry sectors in a total of 24 countries.


■ The 2021 Sustainability Report submitted by K-SURE received 99 points out of 100 in total from 8 categories including report narrative, creativity and information accessibility, and was ranked 6th in a thousand of corporations, attaining the highest points among the korean companies.

○ The 2021 sustainable report having been drafted with the vision of the trade, investment, financial partner pursuing sustainable future contains sustainable goals and performances of K-SURE, and the report can be accessed at the K-SURE website (www.ksure.or.kr).


■ According to the report, last year, K-SURE introduced policies for ESG financial support in response to the demands of the international community such as declaration of support for Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosure, suspension of assistance for new overseas coal-fired power plants generation, and produced ESG management performances in various areas of receiving the UN Global Compact (UNGC) Anti-corruption Award, Ethical Management Award, and acquisition of the certification as to the contribution to local communities.

○ In order to proceed with more effective ESG strategies and activities, K-SURE set up an ESG committee last November, and established an internal system for sustainable management.

○ Further, for the sake of seamless financing aid for SMEs practicing ESG management, K-SURE laid a foundation for networks by concluding MOUs with relevant organizations including KEITI and H2KOREA, and plans to form a consultative group for embedding ESG corporate culture across small and medium institutions, and to provide trade insurance incentives for corporations rated highly in incorporating the ESG culture.


■ Mr. Inho Lee, Chairman and President of K-SURE, said, “I think it is meaningful that our efforts for and outcomes of ESG management have been globally recognized.” He added, “In the year 2022 marking the 30th anniversary of K-SURE’s founding, we will seek sustainable growth by bolstering ESG management and put more efforts in creating an better environment so that exporters can actively respond to the global ESG management demand.”
